How to Manually Integrate ads.txt on WordPress (Without FTP)

Procedure for Manual ads.txt Integration on WordPress (Without FTP Access)

If you are unable to integrate the ads.txt file using our official plugin (for instance, if your site operates on an Nginx server) or if you have simply not installed our plugin, a manual integration is still easily achievable.

The following procedure details how to accomplish this without requiring FTP access, by temporarily utilizing a "File Manager" plugin.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. From your WordPress administrative dashboard, navigate to Plugins > Add New.

  2. In the plugin search bar, type “File Manager”. The plugin will appear in the suggestions. Proceed to Install and Activate it.

  3. Once activated, the "WP File Manager" tab will appear in your dashboard's sidebar. Click on it to open the file management interface.

  4. You will now have access to your site's file structure. This tool allows you to insert the ads.txt file directly into the root of your site. In the plugin's toolbar, click on the “New File” icon, then select the TXT option.

  5. Name the created file exactly: ads.txt

  6. Right-click on your newly created ads.txt file and select the “Code editor” option from the menu. A new window will open.

  7. Copy the complete ads.txt content provided in your Moneybox dashboard and paste it into this code editor window.

  8. Save the file. Verify that the file is present in the root directory, at the same level as your wp-admin, wp-content, and wp-includes folders. If so, the file is correctly integrated.

  9. Finally, clear all website and server caches to ensure the file is publicly accessible.

Your ads.txt file is now integrated.

Important Notes

  • Future Updates: You can use this same plugin and procedure to update your ads.txt file in the future.

  • Plugin Removal: After the integration is complete and verified, you may safely uninstall the "File Manager" plugin. The ads.txt file will remain in place.
